White Bass and Walleye Run at the MAUMEE & SANDUSKY RIVERS

Reminders:
-Black bass season is closed to possession, from May 1 through the last Friday in June (June 27, 2008); any caught must be released immediately unharmed.  Black bass are protected by a 14-inch minimum length limit at all times. 
-Walleye have a 15-inch minimum size limit for the entire season.
-Walleye daily bag limit is four (4) from March 1 through April 30, and six (6) from 
 
May 1 through the last day in February.

FISH BEING CAUGHT

 

White bass fishing has been very good. 

Anglers are still catching some walleye.

White bass fishing has been excellent. 

BEST BAITS

 

For white bass try fishing with jigs tipped with minnows, or minnows under a bobber, or casting a small 1/8 oz light jig or spinner. 

For walleye, use floating jig heads & Carolina rigs with florescent colored plastic tails. 

Most of the white bass are being caught on minnows fished under a bobber or jigs tipped with minnows. 

BEST LOCATIONS

 

Bluegrass Island and Sidecut Park are the best locations to catch white bass.

Buttonwood Access is the best location to catch walleye.

The best area for walleye has been between State Street Bridge and the railroad bridge.  The best area for white bass has been the Sand Docks. 

OUTLOOK

 

Walleye fishing is near the end and white bass fishing is near peak.
