Help

All of our live streaming videos and refreshed still images can be viewed from either a PC or Mac computer.

Live Streaming Videos

Our live web cams are viewed using the free Windows Media Player. We currently have the resources to offer our web cam stream in only one format. In the future we may be able to offer a choice. Our live streaming videos require either the free Windows Media Player or Windows Media® Components for QuickTime, by Flip4Mac®, depending on which type of computer you are watching from. Currently, we support video streams appropriate for Windows Media Player 9 or greater.

On Demand Video Clips

Occasionally we post video clips on our Web site that require either the free Windows Media Player or Windows Media® Components for QuickTime, by Flip4Mac®, depending on which type of computer you are watching from.

Refreshed Still Images

Our refreshed still images do not require any additional software or plug-in. You should be able to view the images on a PC or a Mac in your favorite Web browser. These images are set to refresh every 15 seconds.

Troubleshooting

Unfortunately we do not have available to staff to field technical support questions, so we ask that you attempt to troubleshoot FalconCam issues on your own. Below are some quick tips that may help.

What if I’m unable to see a still image from your cams?

If an image isn’t displaying on your screen you can try refreshing the Web page. A refresh can be accomplished by either pressing the "F5" key on your keyboard (FN+F5 on a Mac), clicking the refresh icon in your Web browser toolbar, or by clicking the back button and then returning to the page you’re having issues with.

From time to time our still images may freeze at a certain time. We typically need to restart the cam. If you see that the cam image is frozen at an earlier time, please be patient and visit the site again later. We are likely working on the issue.

Also, our feeds work during normal daylight during Eastern Standard Time. If you’re trying to view the falcons when during the evening in Columbus, you may see a black screen. Check the time stamp in the bottom of the images.

Why is the Live Streaming Video displaying a blue screen?

If the screen is blue, there may be a technical issue with our camera feed. We’re typically notified of the issue and are likely working on resolving it.

How do I hear the audio from the Live Streaming Video?

It can be quiet at times on the ledge. You should hear an ambient hum and occasional traffic noises such as sirens or truck engines. Hearing the audio requires having a soundcard on your PC or Mac. Check to make sure your computer has a soundcard and that both your system volume and the video volume are turned up.
