JOIN FUN, FREE FESTIVITIES AND CELEBRATE
BOATING AND FISHING ON CLEVELAND’S NORTHCOAST

CLEVELAND – The North Coast Harbor Boating & Fishing Fest will drop anchor for the ninth consecutive summer in Cleveland on Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8.

The event will offer powerboat rides, sailboat rides and fishing trips at no cost to visitors.  Additionally, hundreds of children’s life jackets and fishing sets will be given away.

Approximately 1,000 people were able to enjoy Lake Erie last year on boats manned by local marine dealers.  More than 800 more children were taken on fishing trips by area charter boat captains.

The life jackets will be given away with no regard to income or boating background, thanks in part to grants received from the ODNR Division of Watercraft, Cleveland Foundation and the National Water Safety Congress.  Other partners include the ODNR Division of Wildlife, Greater Cleveland Safety Council, Greater Cleveland Boating Association, Cleveland Treatment Center, North Coast Black Bass Anglers Association, Samsel Marine Supply, U.S. Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary, Lake Erie Marine Trades Association, Spirit of America Foundation and U.S. Power Squadrons.

First-time participant B-About Sail Ministries will offer rides on its 65-foot schooner Journey.

The fest will be held at Voinovich Park, north of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland.  Admission, boat rides and fishing trips are FREE.  Capt’n Willie the Great Lakes Pirate will be on hand to entertain and educate children and other booths will be set up on land.
