CHANGES TO SOUTHEAST OHIO DEER CHECK STATIONS FOR THE 2007 SEASON

ATHENS, OH – Some changes to southeast Ohio vendors acting as deer check stations have been made since the printing of the 2007-2008 Ohio Hunting and Trapping Regulation digest, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The changes in deer check stations have occurred in Athens, Coshocton, Morgan and Vinton counties.
 
In Athens County, Greens Haven will not be checking deer. Hunters can still check deer in Athens County at the following check stations: Glouster EZ Mart, Ohio Valley Trading and Exchange (Athens and Nelsonville), the Wildlife District Four Office, Lodi General Store, Postons Carryout, Shade River Ag Services, P&M Processors, Albany Marathon and LT Bait, Tackle and Archery.
In Coshocton County, the Blue Goose Carryout and 83 South Bait will not be checking deer.   Hunters can check deer in at Russell Hardware, (314 East Main Street, Warsaw, 740.824.4747) as well as The Coshocton County Sportsmen’s association, Mayor’s Corner, New Bedford Elevator, Walhonding Hills Campground, Wills Creek General Store, Mom’s Market, Woodbury Outfitters, Derr’s Hunting and Pet Supply, and Scheetz Marketing.
In Morgan County, C.P. Yocoms Grocery will not be checking deer. Hunters can check deer at Ron’s Auto and Convenience Store (SR377& SR 555 Chesterhill 740.554.5262) as well as Farley’s Hunting and Fishing Supply, Newton Ridge Gun Shop, Jumpers Corner, Altier’s Grocery, and Morgan Ace Grocery.
In Vinton County, Dick’s Grocery, 34845 Union Ridge Road, Albany, 740.596.4229 will be open as a check station, along with Cross Creek General Store, Little John’s Store, R&C Quick Stop, Waters Edge and J.R. Hoover’s.
This year's statewide deer archery season remains open through February 3, including the week of deer-gun season November 26 through December 2.  Deer-gun hunters will also be able to enjoy an additional weekend of hunting December 15 and 16.  All deer harvested must be taken to a check station in the county of harvest or an adjacent county.
