Sewage
Many small sources of pollution enter Ohio's lakes, rivers and streams. Urban storm water runoff, failing septic tanks, forest and agricultural practices, and boats and marina operations are all sources of pollutants.
Human sewage from boats is one source of pollution that can pose environmental problems. Ohio law prohibits any person from launching, mooring, or operating a watercraft on any inland water which is equipped with a sink, toilet, or sanitary system capable of discharging waste into the water.
If your boat has any of this equipment, it must be removed, sealed, or drained into a holding tank which can be carried or pumped ashore for disposal at an approved sewage treatment plant. |
