What is an EnviroScape Model?

EnviroScape Model Kit showing all supplies and documentation

An EnviroScape model is a 3-D self contained mini watershed. It allows students to observe and simulate, in real time, the interactions of precipitation with various land use practices and the impacts they have on streams, lakes, water supplies, and ground water. An EnviroScape model allows you to simulate many sources of both point and nonpoint source pollution, create floods, pave over a field here, plant a buffer there and see what happens.

EnviroScape models are (approximately 25' x 30" x 5") and are packed in a carrying case with wheels for transporting locally or shipping.
Each model comes with a kit containing cocoa, cooking oil, and powdered drink mixes, felt vegetation swatches, clay berms, and props such as miniature vehicles, trees and cows.

Several kinds of models are available that demonstrate other environments such as wetlands, ground water, and hazardous waste.
