Maumee State Forest offers opportunities for winter recreation. Snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are popular here.
Harrison State Forest features a 100 yard shooting range that is open all year. Practice your marksmanship or sight-in firearms for accuracy. The area is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Persons under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a person of legal age while discharging firearms. Exercise extreme caution and observe all rules of gun safety when using this area.
Mohican-Memorial State Forest has eight miles of snowmobile trails that are usable when conditions permit. There are also recreation trails for cross-country skiing.
Pike State Forest is a great place for a calming and peaceful hike on the Buckeye Trail or horseback ride on the bridle trails. The scenery is beautiful and has some breathtaking views. Hunting is permitted here.
Backpacking is always in season at Zaleski State Forest. Choose from the 23-mile trail or the shorter 10-mile loop of the Backpack Trail.
