COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has awarded $80.000 in recycling grants to eight counties to help them improve operations at local recycling centers. Each center provides processing and marketing services for materials collected from community recycling programs.
ODNR's Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention awarded the money for efficiency evaluations at public and non-profit recycling centers across Ohio. Based on the evaluations, recommendations will be made on ways to reduce operational costs and to increase the types and amount of recyclables processed at these facilities.
"This new grant program is aimed at helping public and non-profit recycling centers operate more efficiently," said Sam Speck, director of ODNR. "Ohio's local governments and non-profit organizations have a strong commitment to recycling, and this program is intended to complement their efforts."
Grants of $10,000 each went to recycling programs in Fairfield, Licking, Morrow, Muskingum, Portage, Shelby, Wyandot and Butler counties.
