COLUMBUS, OH -- Constance J. Livchak of Lakewood has been named supervisor of the Lake Erie Geology Group for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). Livchak, a certified professional geologist, will oversee a four-member staff in the Sandusky office of the ODNR Division of Geological Survey.
Constance Livchak brings more than 13 years of experience to ODNR, said Tom Berg, chief of the Geological Survey at ODNR. Her background in managing major environmental geology projects for private businesses will be a great asset to our Lake Erie office.
The Lake Erie Geology Group performs scientific research on all aspects of the lake in support of the Ohio Coastal Management Program. It works on sand management along the entire lake shoreline and is responsible for mapping coastal erosion areas. The group also maintains leases for extraction of minerals from the lake bed.
In her new position, Livchak will provide public presentations about Lake Erie and its various geological issues, including water levels, storm events and coastal erosion. She will manage a number of grant-funded research activities, including mapping the substrate of Lake Erie's tributary rivers and charting the progress of invasive species such as the zebra mussel in lake waters.
Livchak holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in geology from Bowling Green State University. She can be reached at 419-626-4296.
