HERB LEEN NAMED WESTERN OHIO PRESERVE MANAGER
FOR THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
COLUMBUS, OH - Herb Leen of St. Paris, has been named preserve manager in western Ohio for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). As manager, he will oversee 10 state nature preserves in the region, handling nature programs, law enforcement and maintenance operations. State nature preserves in the area include Kiser Lake Wetlands in Champaign County, Greenville Falls in Miami County, Drew Woods in Darke County, Owens/Liberty Fen in Logan County, Gross Memorial Woods in Shelby County and Baker Woods in Mercer County.
Leen is a 16-year veteran of ODNR, having just finished a nine-year tenure as area supervisor with the ODNR Division of Watercraft in Cincinnati. He has also worked as a biological surveyor with ODNR’s Division of Wildlife.
Leen is a graduate of Hocking College in Nelsonville, where he studied natural resources, recreation and wildlife management. He also studied geology at Wright State University.
He and his wife, Sally, have two children, Melinda and James, and reside in Champaign County.
ODNR’s Division of Natural Areas and Preserves manages Ohio’s 121 state nature preserve system, which protects the state’s most rare botanical and animal species.
