LATE SEASON GOOSE HUNTING PERMIT APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE
OAK HARBOR, OH -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife is now accepting permit applications for a special late Canada goose hunting season that will be open January 15 through February 5 in all or portions of 19 Ohio counties.
The free permits are required in addition to a valid hunting license, state wetlands stamp endorsement, and federal duck stamp to participate in this experimental season that was earlier approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as a way to control Ohio's expanding goose population.
Interested hunters may request the free permit by mailing a postcard with their name, address and social security number to Late Season Goose Permits, 13229 West State Route 2, Oak Harbor, Ohio 43449. They may also file their application by calling (419) 898-0960. Applications received by December 1 will allow the Division of Wildlife to mail the late season goose permits to participants in December.
Wildlife district offices in Columbus, Athens, Akron, Findlay, Xenia, and the Crane Creek Research Station, also will provide over the counter goose permits after December 1.
The late Canada goose hunting season will be open in Licking, Delaware, Union, Fulton, Henry, Seneca, Huron, Allen, Hardin, Stark and Auglaize counties, and in portions of Erie, Sandusky, Wood, Lucas, Summit, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties. The daily bag limit will be two Canada geese during this special late season.
