ONLINE SURVEY WILL HELP CHART THE FUTURE OF OHIO STATE PARKS

Internet users encouraged to complete form at ohiodnr.com

COLUMBUS, OH - Internet users are encouraged to help chart the future of Ohio’s state park system by completing a special online survey available at ohiodnr.com, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

“The opinions of our visitors are very important to us,” said Dan West, chief of Ohio State Parks. “Through this Internet-based survey, they can help us set priorities for improvements to our parks - and tell us how we can better meet their needs.”

The survey consists of 20 questions and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. It is the latest in a series of programs to collect customer input for the state park system’s upcoming five-year strategic plan. Data from the survey will be incorporated with feedback from focus groups held this summer, as well as direct-mail surveys of registered RV owners in Ohio.

Ohio’s 74 state parks encompass almost 164,000 acres of public lands and are home to nine resort lodges, more than 500 family cottages and 9,000 campsites.

Almost 56 million people visited Ohio State Parks last year, with Cleveland Lakefront State Park in Cuyahoga County and Alum Creek State Park in Delaware County registering the most visits. Cleveland Lakefront recorded more than 9 million visits, while Alum Creek reported more than 3 million.
