COLUMBUS, OH - Dan Graeter of Beavercreek, program manager for Montgomery County’s recycling and litter prevention programs, recently received the Program Employee Of The Year Award from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention.
The award recognizes Graeter for managing and overseeing one of the largest and most comprehensive solid waste management programs in Ohio. Under Graeter’s leadership, Montgomery County Solid Waste District staff worked with construction and demolition companies to promote “green building” and the use of recycled-content products. He also conducted a variety of recycling and litter prevention education and awareness programs and implemented highway right-of-way cleanups, as well as a county Adopt-A-Roadway program.
“Dan is a fine example of the important work the division’s grant program managers are doing at the local level,” said Ron Kolbash, chief of the ODNR Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention. “Because of Dan’s tireless efforts, the residents of Montgomery County have access to a variety of recycling opportunities and litter prevention programs.”
Graeter received the award at a conference co-sponsored by the division, the Association of Ohio Recyclers, the Buckeye Solid Waste Association of North America, the Ohio Association of Litter Prevention and Recycling Professionals, the Organization of Solid Waste Districts of Ohio and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
The ODNR Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention is responsible for statewide waste reduction, recycling, recycling market development and litter prevention programs. In addition, the division assists in implementing Ohio's Solid Waste Management Plan and encourages residents to reduce waste, recycle materials and buy recycled-content products.
