ADDITIONAL AEP LANDS AVAILABLE FOR DEER HUNTING
7,340 Acres in Muskingum County Opened to Deer Hunters

MCCONNELSVILLE, OH –American Electric Power will make an additional 7,340 acres of its Muskingum County ReCreation lands available for deer hunting this year, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

The additional acres are located along both sides of portions of State Route 284 (click for map).

AEP opened the land to deer hunting this year to reduce local deer populations which are severely impacting young tree plantings. This property will be only open for hunting during the deer gun season, November 26 through December 2, and the statewide primitive weapons season December 27-30.

Maps (available by clicking here) will be posted at bulletin boards throughout campgrounds in ReCreation Land. There will also be maps available to view in local stores near the area that distribute AEP maps and permits. The AEP web site www.aep.com and ODNR’s web site at www.dnr.state.oh.us can be accessed for permits and maps, including a map of the special deer hunting area.

ODNR cautions that hunter's are responsible to know and respect the boundaries of this area and to have all the licenses, permits, and permission slips appropriate for the season and the area. Hunters are reminded that the rules and regulations for AEP's ReCreation Land apply, as well as all state wildlife regulations. No ATV's are permitted except for those with special handicapped permits from AEP.
