GOVERNOR TAFT ANNOUNCES MORE THAN $6.9 MILLION
IN RECYCLE, OHIO! GRANTS TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES
COLUMBUS, OH - Governor Bob Taft and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) today announced a total of $6,967,746 in Recycle, Ohio! Grants to 97 Ohio cities, counties and regional solid waste management districts. The grants support recycling collection, waste reduction activities, awareness campaigns and litter prevention programs in local communities throughout the state.
Recycle, Ohio! Grants have a positive effect on local communities, helping to improve curbside and drop-off recycling programs and litter clean-up efforts, Taft said. They give Ohioans an opportunity to help conserve precious natural resources and energy.
The states first recycling and litter prevention grants were awarded in 1981. Since then, more than $136 million has gone to Ohio communities to support local programs. The Recycle, Ohio! program is administered by the ODNR Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention.
