UPDATED CAMPSITE AVAILABILITY OFFERED
THROUGH TOLL-FREE HOTLINE OR WEB SITE

COLUMBUS, OH – Campers seeking a campsite in one of Ohio’s 57 state park campgrounds this Memorial Day weekend can access availability information from the revised Ohio State Parks Web page at www.ohiostateparks.org or by calling the toll-free travel and tourism hotline at 1-800-BUCKEYE.

"Memorial Day traditionally signals the start of Ohio’s camping season and some campgrounds will be filled to capacity," said Dan West, chief of the Division of Parks & Recreation in the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. "Travelers have two easy ways to check on whether their favorite campgrounds are already filled to capacity – before leaving home."

West noted the hotline will be updated several times a day on Thursday and Friday before Memorial Day. Likewise, the web page will be updated as campgrounds fill.

Ohio State Parks offer more than 9,000 campsites in 57 parks. Amenities run the gamut from fully developed sites with electrical hookups, showers and camp stores to primitive walk-in sites. Each campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reservations accepted.

An informational message and list of full campgrounds will also be available prior to Memorial Day by calling the Ohio State Park Information Center at (614) 265-7000. The recorded message, available 24 hours a day, will be updated periodically.
