LOCAL WILDLIFE OFFICER RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD

CINCINNATI, OH -- Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife Officer Allan Wright was recently recognized by the National Wild Turkey Federation for his efforts to promote wildlife conservation.

Wright's efforts in promoting wildlife education and in enforcing conservation laws garnered him the National Wild Turkey Federation's (NWTF) North American Wildlife Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award.

Wright's efforts with Operation River Sweep - an anti-poaching enforcement program -helped bring more than 150 wildlife charges and shut down a major poaching ring.

The organization also recognized Wright and his wife, Kim, for starting the Ohio River Longbeards NWTF Chapter. In addition, Wright has conducted numerous workshops for kids on fishing and other outdoor-related programs.

Wright has won several awards, including Brown County Officer of the Year (2000) and a Brown County Meritorious Service Award for exceptional service to law enforcement and the community.
