DELPHOS RESIDENT TO PATROL WATERS
OF GRAND LAKE ST. MARYS FOR
THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES

COLUMBUS, OH -- Matthew M. Hoehn of Delphos has been assigned to serve as a seasonal state watercraft officer to patrol Grand Lake St. Marys in Mercer and Auglaize counties, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft.

As part of his responsibilities, Latchic will patrol the 13,500-acre lake enforcing state boating laws and assisting boaters in distress. He will serve as a watercraft officer throughout the recreational boating season.

He is a 1998 graduate of Delphos St. Johns High School and recently graduated from Hocking College with an associate's degree in fish and wildlife management. Hoehn also is a special sheriff deputy with the Van Wert County Sheriff's Department.
Additionally, Hoehn had previously completed training at the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy where he received instruction in the Ohio Revised Code, self-defense, investigative and arrest procedures, first aid, and other law enforcement-related skills.

ODNR's Division of Watercraft administers and enforces the state's recreational boating rules, conducts watercraft safety education programs and develops boating facilities on major water areas.
