COLUMBUS, OH -- Craig A. Watson of Columbus has been assigned to serve as a seasonal state watercraft officer on Buckeye Lake in Fairfield and Perry counties, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft.
As part of his responsibilities, Watson will patrol the popular 3,400 acre lake enforcing state boating laws and assisting boaters in distress. He will serve as a watercraft officer throughout the recreational boating season.
He is a 1989 graduate of Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, Illinois and was a student at Columbus State Community College.
Additionally, Watson completed training at the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy where he received instruction in the Ohio Revised Code, self-defense, investigative and arrest procedures, first aid, and other law enforcement-related skills.
ODNR's Division of Watercraft administers and enforces the state's recreational boating rules, conducts watercraft safety education programs and develops boating facilities on major water areas.
