UNIQUE EVENTS PART OF OHIO STATE PARKS SUMMER SCHEDULE
COLUMBUS, OH - Never flew a radio control airplane? Looking to learn a bit more about Native American culture? Or seeking a quiet walk in the park without the sound of cars motoring by? Well try all these things and enjoy many other unique events going on at Ohio State Parks this summer.
This weekend, July 15-17, is Kite Flyers Weekend at Maumee Bay State Park in Lucas County. This daylong event at the beach features kite flying workshops and demonstrations by experts. Regular camping fees apply. For information call 419-836-7758.

- Zaleski Flint Knap-In at Lake Hope State Park in Vinton County from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 23 at the Hope Dining Lodge. See arrowheads and stone implements created through primitive methods. For information call 740-596-5253.
- Mark Twain Family Fun Day at Blue Rock State Park in Muskingum County on Saturday, August 6. Enjoy good old-fashioned family fun including sack races, egg and water balloon toss, wheelbarrow races, bingo, a euchre tournament, and much more. For information call 740-674-4794.
- Radio Control Fun Fly at Guilford Lake State Park in Columbiana County from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 3 at the beach. Come join the fun with your radio-controlled plane or just watch their amazing maneuvers. For information call 330-222-1712.
- Thunder in the Hills Festival and Hydroplane Races at Rocky Fork State Park in Highland County on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18. Experience the excitement of world-class hydroplane racing, plus a craft fair and food court. For information call 937-393-4284.
- Mountain Heritage Campout at Tar Hollow State Park in Ross County on Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17. Experience old-fashioned fun with crosscut saw, horseshoe, tomahawk throwing contests, crafts, a square dance and potluck. Regular camping fees apply. For information call 740-887-4818.
- Frontier Days at Scioto Trail in Ross County from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 at the Caldwell Lake Campground. Celebrate the rich history of the area with heritage theme events and activities, and old-fashioned treats. Regular camping fees apply. For information call 740-663-2125.
- Native American Gathering at Lake Milton State Park in Mahoning County from noon to
6 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25 at the Milton Avenue picnic area. Celebrate Native American culture with food, dancing and items for sale. For information call 330-654-4989.
- An Evening of No Motors at Independence Dam in Defiance County every Tuesday now through September 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. Hike, bike, skate or roll along 2 miles of scenic riverside roads with no motors of any kind! Call 419-237-2593 for information.
