LUCAS COUNTY RESIDENT NAMED NATURE PRESERVE MANAGER
FOR NORTHWEST OHIO

COLUMBUS, OH -- Lucas County resident Jamie R. Murphy was recently named northwest district preserve manager for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Natural Areas & Preserves.

Murphy will manage nine state nature preserves in the northwest region of Ohio, including Goll Woods, Lawrence Woods and Irwin Prairie. Management duties include administration, maintenance, law enforcement and programming.

Murphy holds a bachelor of science degree in natural resources from The Ohio State University and is a certified Ohio Peace Officer. For the past five years, Murphy has worked as a park officer for the Columbus (Ohio) Metropolitan Park District.

Raised in Orrville, Murphy now resides in Maumee.

ODNR's Division of Natural Areas & Preserves manages a system of 123 state nature preserves and 20 state scenic river areas. The division's work is funded, in part, by contributions to the state income tax check-off program for natural areas and by sales of Ohio's scenic rivers license plates.
