LOW WATER LEVELS FORCE CLOSURE OF SOME FACILITIES
AT EAST FORK STATE PARK
COLUMBUS, OH – The campground beach and North Shore Boat Ramp at East Fork State Park in Clermont County are closed for the remainder of the recreational season due to low water levels in Harsha Lake. However, the main public beach and four other boat launch facilities remain open.
"In the interest of public safety, we've decided to close the campground beach and the North Shore boat launch," said park manager Chris Dauner. "A significant drop-off at the campground beach and fully exposed pavement at the boat launch increase the chance of accidents. These facilities will remain closed unless there is substantial rainfall and water levels rise."
The 1,200-foot main public swimming beach on the south side of the lake remains open. Boaters are advised to use caution at the four open boat launch areas because of very low lake levels. Dauner estimates the lake is currently more than five feet below normal summer pool as a result of extended dry weather.
East Fork is one of Ohio's largest state parks with more than 8,400 acres of land and 2,100 acres of water. The lake offers quality fishing and unlimited horsepower boating. The campground offers 406 sites, including eight Getaway Rentals.
