OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES DIRECTOR SEAN LOGAN
RECOMMENDS JOHN B. ACKERMAN FOR STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL

COLUMBUS, OH - Sean D. Logan, director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), recently recommended Monroe County resident John B. Ackerman to serve on the state’s Oil & Gas Technical Advisory Council.

The eight-member council is made up of three independent oil and gas producers in Ohio; three independent oil and gas producers with experience in Ohio and other states; one representative of the general public and one landowner with royalty interests in oil and gas production. All are appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the Ohio Senate.

The council hears controversies involving minimum acreage requirements for drilling units and minimum distances from which a new well can be drilled or an existing well plugged, deepened or reopened. The council also establishes and regulates procedures by which independent Ohio producers may operate a marketing program.

Ackerman is a farmer who leases land to oil and gas companies and collects royalties from producing wells. He is also the current president of the Monroe County Agriculture Society, overseeing oil and gas leases on the fairgrounds.

His term on the Oil & Gas Technical Advisory Council runs three years.
