ODNR Division of Watercraft Salutes Staff Who Demonstrate Outstanding Service
COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft applauds three top employees that have gone the extra mile to ensure safety and customer service for Ohio boaters.
Dave Goodwin, of Woodville, was recently named the ODNR Division of Watercraft 2008 Officer of the Year. A watercraft officer specialist assigned to the Sandusky area office, he has been recognized for his work patrolling the western basin of Lake Erie and assisting local community organizations in support of their boating safety education programs.
Goodwin, who graduated from The Ohio State University and completed the Ohio Peace Officer Training Program, also had among the highest number of drunken boating arrests this year. He was among a number of Ohio law enforcement officers who received the Top Cop Award in 2008 and 2007 from Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Eric Reed, of Westerville, was awarded the title of 2008 Administrator of the Year by the ODNR Division of Watercraft. He is a search and rescue training coordinator at the division's headquarters located in Columbus. Reed trains state watercraft officers and marine patrol unit officers to assist persons or property in potential or actual distress. This Ohio State University graduate earned the top administrator award for his outstanding service to Ohio's law enforcement community, recreational boaters and ODNR co-workers statewide.
Terri Games-Lees, of Solon, was named ODNR Division of Watercraft 2008 Administrative Support Employee of the Year. Mrs. Games-Lee is an account clerk in the Division's Cleveland office and provides exceptional customer service in support of the agency's administrative functions.
The ODNR Division of Watercraft administers Ohio's recreational boating programs, including watercraft registration and titling services, and provides grants to local communities for enforcement, education and boating access facilities. Division of Watercraft programs are funded by a share of the state motor fuels tax, boating registration and titling fees and a grant from the U.S. Coast Guard.
