COLUMBUS, OH -- The annual winter draw down at Lake Milton State Park will begin in early September, reducing water levels by an average of 6 feet on the 1,685-acre lake.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will begin reducing water levels on September 4, with levels dropping about a foot every 10 days. The draw down should be completed by November 30.
We have been fortunate at Lake Milton to have maintained close-to-normal summer water levels despite the lack of rainfall, said Lake Milton State Park Manager Rocco Greco. Fall boaters can still enjoy the lake, but they should monitor water levels and be on the lookout for shallow spots - especially in the south end.
Updates on water levels at Lake Milton, as well as nearby Berlin Lake and Kirwan Reservoir at West Branch State Park, are available on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers web site at http://wmw.lrp.usace.army.mil
The Robinson Point launch ramp on Lake Milton will remain accessible through the draw down. However, the Millers Landing launch ramp will be unavailable to boaters once water levels begin to drop.
The Lake Milton State Park office is located 15 miles west of Youngstown, off State Route 18.
