NASHPORT, OH -- Visitors to Dillon State Park in Muskingum County can enjoy a day of family-style entertainment on Saturday, September 1, at the fourth annual Dillon Family Fest. The event is scheduled from noon to midnight at the park's beach.
Events and attractions will include a Civil War encampment; dirt track car show; cheerleading exhibition featuring local high school squads; performances by Darlas Dancers; along with a MedFlight landing on the beach and K-9 police dog demonstrations.
Childrens activities are also planned such as face painting; a youth fishing derby; story time and special visits by Smokey Bear and other costumed characters. Musical groups, including the West Muskingum Band, Sasha Eby, and HB7 will perform throughout the afternoon. The days activities will culminate in a fireworks display over Dillon Lake and a beach dance party under the stars.
The Dillon Family Fest is a day filled with activities that are free to families, said Todd Bickel, president of the Friends of Dillon/Dillon Area Advisory Group, which co-sponsors the event with the state park. Corporate support for the event is provided by Pepsi, WHIZ-TV and radio, Goss Party Rental, Pick-N- Save, First National Bank, the Times-Recorder of Zanesville and Genesis Healthcare Systems.
