$250,000 IN LAKE ERIE COASTAL MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE GRANTS AVAILABLE
Grant education workshops slated for October in Cleveland and Sandusky
SANDUSKY, OH - Applications for $250,000 in grants are being accepted for projects that preserve, protect and enhance Ohio’s Lake Erie coastal resources, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Office of Coastal Management.
Coastal Management Assistance Grants are available to communities, local government, non-profit organizations, planning commissions and educational institutions. Funding priority for this round of grants will focus on community plans that include coastal resource protection and enhancement of public access. Priority will also be given to implement coastal nonpoint management measures of state-endorsed watershed action plans, as well as the development of watershed balanced growth plans in coordination with the Ohio Lake Erie Commission.
Applicants must provide at least 50 percent of the project’s total funding. Applications and guidelines for the Coastal Management Assistance Grants program are available online at ohiodnr.com/coastal/grants or by contacting the Office of Coastal Management at 419-626-7980. Grant applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. November 16. The grants, which are awarded on a competitive basis, will be announced in the spring.
Grant application workshops featuring ODNR parks and trail grant information, along with details on applying for coastal grants, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, at the ODNR Division of Watercraft office at 1150 E. 49th Street, Cleveland; and 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, October 25, at the ODNR Division of Watercraft office at 1630 Sycamore Line, Sandusky.
