Hardware for the digital seismographs consists of these components:
- Apple Macintosh G3 or G4 computer running MacOS 8.6 or earlier.
- Full-time internet connection for the Macintosh computer.
- EAI S-102 seismometer and cables
- Garmin GPS II+ hand-held GPS receiver, including:
- externl antenna and antenna cable (80 feet max.)
- 4 AA batteries
- Power/Data cable
- 12 volt/500 mA power supply
- Macintosh Serial Cable
- National Instruments Digitizing (A-to-D) board for PCI expansion slot:
- PCI-1200 (12-bit board)
- PCI-XE-50 (16-bit board)
- Connector block (Green screw terminal board) and cable
Tools needed:
- volt-ohm meter
- small flathead and philips screwdrivers
- wire cutter
- wire srtippers
- electrical tape
