Kwanzan Japanese Cherry - Prunus serrulata 'Kwanzan'
Lyndhurst (Cleveland Area) Planted: 1956
Mayfield Rd. Site: 5' Tree Lawn

1971 Comments:
The trees are upright, vase-shaped in habit typical of this cultivar and uniform in size. They are in poor condition with considerable winter injury on the trunks. These trees are a bad choice for street trees in cold climates, especially on a major thoroughfare such as this. They even prove to be unsatisfactory on residential streets. Japanese cherries, in general, are no longer recommended for street tree use in the Cleveland area.

1997 Comments:
These trees were extensively planted in 10' wide tree lawns. No plants remain. The street has been totally renovated and the tree lawn has been eliminated. No evidence as to what happened remains.

Zero percent of the overall planting survived (0 of 50 trees).
