Kwanzan Japanese Cherry - Prunus serrulata 'Kwanzan'
Wooster Planted: 1961
North at Market Site: 8' Tree Lawn

1971 Comments:
Trees are upright, V-shaped in character and quite uniform. They will not grow out of bounds on this 8' foot tree lawn. This area is close to downtown and these small trees are out of scale with the large buildings in the vicinity. They are somewhat protected from severe weather exposure and are growing well.

1997 Comments:
These plants were in 3 x 3' sidewalk cuts. Approximately ten plants were originally planted in a 8' tree lawn. Given the changes at this site, this may be a good survival rate. The two trees that do remain are seriously declining. In the shade tree evaluation plots, these plants have lasted approximately twenty years.

Twenty percent of the overall planting survived (2 of 10 trees).
1997 data on table are based on two trees.
