Lavalle Hawthorn - Crataegus lavallei
Wooster Planted: 1962
454 Woodland Site: 7' Tree Lawn

1971 Comments:
The trees are uniform in height and spread and formal in character. The deep setback of most of the homes might have permitted the planting of trees on the homeowners' lawns and away from the power lines. There are low utility lines overhead, but it does not appear that these trees will interfere with them in the foreseeable future. The trees are planted closer to the sidewalk than the street and have been limbed up to prevent interference with pedestrian traffic. However, changes in elevation in the area could have resulted in an unsatisfactory aesthetic appearance for the overall planting.

1997 Comments:
A number of these plants are under power lines and have not required pruning. The habitat change in this plant from juvenile to maturity is quite dramatic. It is a narrow upright oval as a young plant, but then becomes quite irregular.

Fifty-eight percent of the overall planting survived (7 of 12 trees).
1997 data on the table are based on five trees.
