American Hophornbeam - Ostrya virginiana
Brooklyn, (Cleveland area) Planted: 1956
5086 W. 6th St. Site: 7.5' Tree Lawn

1971 Comments:
These trees are pyramidal in shape, uniform in height and slow growing. These trees appear to be a good choice for this location. They provide an attractive setting in a wide tree lawn.

1997 Comments:
These plants are in a generous tree lawn of about 7.5'. Replacements in this area were Norway Maples. No sidewalk damage was noted. The Hophornbeans have survived in low numbers. Replacements are not very old.

Nine percent of the overall planting survived (2 of 22 trees).
1997 data on the table are based on two trees.
