Every year, the Ohio Division of Forestry conducts wildland fire training. This training is always open to personnel from State and Federal agencies and also other non-governmental interested parties.

The sessions will provide an overview of basic principles for wildland firefighting. Through group exercises, students will be asked to apply these principles to real-life fire scenarios which occurred in the 2007 fire season. We will also discuss crew callout procedures and the upcoming Western fire season.

This course is designed to meet the training requirements to become certified as a prescribed fire manager by the Ohio Division of Forestry. This course is designed to instruct prospective prescribed fire managers about basic fire ecology, prescribed fire planning, firing methods, smoke management, burn management, contingency planning, fire behavior predictions, and burn plan development.
