Main Feature:
Excellent wooded corridor along the Upper Cuyahoga State Scenic River.
This natural area was Ohio's first scenic river preserve, designated in 1986. It protects 1.5 miles of river corridor along the Upper Cuyahoga State Scenic River.
It is dedicated in memory of Charles A. Tummonds, a long-time friend of the division and advocate of preservation of the Cuyahoga River and conservation in northeastern Ohio.
In addition to the wooded riverine corridor, which contains impressive beech trees, the north part of the preserve contains a small sphagnum bog, dry kame woods, swamp woods and marsh.
Location:
Located approximately .5 mile south of Mantua along State Route 44 adjacent to the Upper Cuyahoga State Scenic River. No visitor facilities are present; access to the preserve is poor from State Route 44 as most of the preserve is on the north side of the river. Accessible by canoe from the Upper Cuyahoga River.
