The 2010 grant application packages are now available. The Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention's competitive grant funding is targeted at Ohio's local governments, colleges and universities, solid waste management districts/authorities, health districts, soil & water conservation districts and private sector businesses for a variety of recycling, litter clean up and scrap tire management projects.
The Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention will be hosting a grant informational meeting to answer questions about the 2010 grant programs on December 18, 2009 at 9:00 AM. This session will be held at:

AMERICA RECYCLES DAY - NOVEMBER 15?
According to AmericaRecyclesDay.org last year, the amount of energy saved from recycling aluminum and steel cans, plastic PET and glass containers, newsprint and corrugated packaging was equivalent to:
- the amount of electricity consumed by 17.8 million Americans in one year
- the amount of gasoline used in almost 11 million passenger automobiles in one year
- 7.9% of electricity generation from fossil fuels in the U.S. in one year
The Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention is responsible for implementing statewide waste reduction, recycling, recycling market development and litter prevention programs. The division encourages Ohioans to reduce waste, recycle materials and buy recycled-content products.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources initiated a Waste Characterization study at 11 selected solid waste management districts throughout Ohio.
