Coastal Partners

Coastal resource management involves many complex issues that reflect the Lake's dynamic personality. Agencies at all levels must work together to achieve the goal of creating a healthy coastal environment.

The Office of Coastal Management coordinates with and seeks support from agencies and groups at the local, state and federal levels as well as internationally.

NOAA funded agencies in Ohio have recently embarked on a new journey, partnering to develop the first unified education and outreach plan for the Lake Erie coast and watershed. Agencies actively involved in this effort include: the Ohio Department of Natural Resource’s Office of Coastal Management (OCM) administering the Ohio Coastal Management Program, ODNR’s Old Woman Creek (OWC) National Estuarine Research Reserve administering the Ohio Coastal Training Program, and Ohio State University’s Ohio Sea Grant College Program (OSG) who oversees the Ohio Clean Marinas Program. The Ohio Lake Erie Commission (OLEC) who oversees the Lake Erie Protection and Restoration Plan and the Balanced Growth Program is also a partner in this effort.

Additional partners listed on this page the coastal advisory council and agencies/entites at the local, state, Great Lakes Region National and international levels.
