Western Lake Erie Basin EAB Demonstration Sites

Demonstration sites are highly effective at helping landowners visualize the impact of various management tools available to mitigate the impact of EAB. There is currently one demonstration site located at Maumee State Forest in Fulton County.  Additional demonstration sites identifying ash trees and showing different management techniques are being planned within the Western Lake Erie Basin area.

Maumee State Forest

Located 15 miles southwest of Toledo, Maumee State Forest was one of the first areas in Ohio to have a known EAB infestation. Being proactive in reducing the amount of ash in a woods is important to slowing the spread of this devastating insect.   Two stops along the 2 mile Stewardship Trail demonstrate salvage sales of commercial size ash trees as a proactive approach to reduce the composition of ash in a woods.
