Ohio Earthquake of Sept 22, 1999:
Sept. 22, 1999, 10:02:19 UT, Earthquake northeast of Cleveland, along the Lake Erie shoreline, Preliminary Magnitude 2 1/2, felt in communities from EastLake to Willoughby Hills. For more information, click on the OhioSeis link below, or the NEIC listing. Seismograms and analyses will be posted as available, see below.
Seismogram Recorded at LCCO OhioSeis station.
This station is very close to epicenter, within 10 km!!
Use of the arrival time at this station is a key reason why the OhioSeis epicenter is different from the Canadian and NEIC epicenters.

To obtain a better estimate for the epicentral location, we used:
- OhioSeis: P times at 2 OhioSeis stations (LCCO & CLEO)
- USNSN: P & S time from AAM, P time from MCWV
- Canadian stations (Univ. of Western Ontario) P & S times
- PEPP: P time from PPNOR (also close to epicenter).
The first iteration on the location with these data produces the hypocentral estimate seen in the figure below.
