Findlay, OH - Young anglers interested in learning the art of fly fishing and practicing their skills are encouraged to enter the lottery for a beginners-only fishing clinic set for Friday, June 13 on a half-mile section of Cold Creek at the Castalia State Fish Hatchery in Erie County. Read More »

Northeast Ohio

During any given winter in Northeast Ohio, most reservoirs are drawn down so that ice formation does not harm docks or dam structures. This year, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Lake Milton State Park have agreed to lower Lake Milton to eight feet below summer pool. With this dramatic drawdown, the Division of Wildlife will use this opportunity to enhance the habitat around several key areas around the State Park. Read More »


OAK HARBOR, OH - Observers counted 649birds during the recent Mid-Winter Bald Eagle Survey - the highest number ever recorded during the event. The previous record count for bald eagles during this survey was 554 in 2006. Read More »

Hunters took 21,473 deer during Ohio's four-day muzzleloader season, December 27-30, with Tuscarawas County again leading the state with 971 deer checked. Last year, a preliminary total of 22,413 deer was taken during muzzleloader season. Read More »
