WILDLIFE OFFICER IN LICKING COUNTY NAMED OHIO BOWHUNTERS ASSOCIATION OFFICER OF THE YEAR

COLUMBUS, OH – Bill Bullard, State Wildlife Officer assigned to Licking County, has been named Wildlife Officer of the Year by the Ohio Bowhunters Association, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

“Officer Bullard is truly dedicated to the outdoor enthusiasts in his community,” said David Lane, Field Supervisor in the Division of Wildlife’s central Ohio district.  “He believes strongly in educating youths in archery, hunting, fishing, and other wildlife pursuits.”

Bullard has been a State Wildlife Officer for 15 years, and prior to that, he served as an intern for the ODNR Divisions of Wildlife and Watercraft.  He is a native of Columbus and a graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in natural resources.

The Ohio Bowhunters Association honored Bullard for his dedication to promoting archery in Ohio.  Specifically, Bullard is active in the National Archery in the Schools program, serves on the Natural Resources Area Committee for the Hartford Fair, and exposes youths to archery during special events such as Swappers’ Days and the Ohio Deer and Turkey Expo.  He has been influential in creating deer management programs in Newark and Granville and is an effective, trusted law enforcement officer.

The purpose of the Ohio Bowhunters Association is to foster, expand, and improve bowhunting in the state of Ohio by creating a spirit of fellowship within the bowhunting community, educating youths in proper archery methods, and working with resource agencies and conservation organizations to conserve wildlife and its habitat.
