WILD TURKEY RELEASE KICKS-OFF THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY SEASON
Ohio Division of Wildlife and National Wild Turkey Federation Release Turkeys to Celebrate Decades of Successful Wildlife Management

COLUMBUS, OH—In honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and to celebrate the wild turkey's long history in Ohio and North America, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife and the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) will release wild turkeys on Thursday, November 15, 2007 in Union County at 10 a.m.

The turkey release will provide an excellent photo opportunity as the turkeys fly from their transport boxes into the surrounding habitat. Area officials, students, and members of the media will be invited to participate in the releasing of the birds and interviews will be available.  The turkeys being released are part of a relocation program in Ohio used to distribute healthy wild turkeys throughout the state.

The event will take place on Hinton Mill Road in Marysville, about 25 minutes from Columbus.  Detailed directions are below or contact the District One office at (614) 644-3925 for more information.

DIRECTIONS TO RELEASE SITE: From Columbus, take 270 to 33 West on the northwest side (Dublin).  Proceed about 7.4 miles and exit at US-42.  Directional signs will lead you to the release site.  Turn right on US-42 and almost immediately, turn left on Watkins California Rd and proceed 3.5 miles.  Turn left on Watkins Rd. then right on Bellepoint Rd. for 1.4 miles.  Turn left onto Hinton Mill Rd.  The release site is called Dorral Farm and is about 1 mile on the left.
