BEAVER & RIVER OTTER TRAPPING OPPORTUNITY
AT ZEPERNICK LAKE WILDLIFE AREA

One permit available for trapping state wildlife area in Columbiana County

AKRON, OH – The ODNR Division of Wildlife will issue one permit for beaver and otter trapping on a portion of Zepernick Lake Wildlife Area in Columbiana County. Interested trappers should meet in the Zepernick Lake Wildlife Area main parking lot at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 10th. A drawing will take place promptly at 4:00 p.m.

To be eligible for the drawing, trappers are required to bring a valid hunting license and fur taker permit, proof of a previous hunting license and fur taker permit, or proof of registration/completion of a trapper education course.

Only the westernmost portion of Zepernick Lake Wildlife Area will be open to beaver & otter trapping by permit.  Zepernick Lake itself will not be awarded and will remain closed to beaver & otter trapping.  Trapping for these furbearers on all public lands statewide is by permit only and limited to areas where flooding interferes with other management practices or affects adjacent, private property or roadways. Beaver and otter trapping seasons run December 26, 2007 through February 29, 2008 statewide.
