MIAMI COUNTY DEER HUNTERS WORKSHOP OCTOBER 6
PREPARE YOUR TROPHY FOR THE WALL AND THE FREEZER
TROY, OH - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife in conjunction with the Ohio State University Extension Office in Miami County are hosting a Deer Hunter Workshop from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.on Saturday, October 6, 2007. Registration will run from noon to 3:00 pm. Sponsors for this event include Old English Outfitters, Troy Fish & Game, Whitetails Unlimited, SUMMIT Treestands and SW Ohio Safari Club International.
There is a $5.00 fee for the workshop to cover the costs of the meal. Participants are asked to pre-register by September 30th. Please call the Ohio State University Extension Office in Miami County at 937-440-3945 to register.
Presentations will include speakers from, Summit Treestands Inc., Rick Busse Wildlife Studios, Jack’s Custom Deer Processing, the Division of Wildlife, and the OSU Extension Office as well as presentations on field preservation of trophies for mounting, field dressing, preparing venison for the freezer and the table, and skinning and butchering. Mike Tonkovitch, Wildlife Biologist with the Division of Wildlife will discuss management of Ohio’s deer herd. Wildlife issues, and laws and regulations for the upcoming season will be presented by the Division staff as well. Participants can also bring their deer mounts to be scored during the evening. Vendors including Ameristep, Antler King, BowTech Archery, Browning, Bushnell, Cobra Archery, Eastman Outfitters, G5 Archery, Horton Crossbows, Hoyt Archery, Mathews Archery, Natural Gear, New Archery Products, Rivers West, SUMMIT Treestands, TenPoint Crossbows, Trophy Rock, Tru Glow Archery, Whitewater Apparel, Wildlife Research, Winchester, Pro. Polaris ATV’s, Evolved Habitats and Stealth Cam will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate their products. Registered participants will be entered into a raffle for a Horton crossbow, muzzleloader, shotgun and free deer processing. All registered youth under the age of 18 will receive a FREE incentive item.
