AKRON, OH – Biologists estimate a total of 23 individual black bears accounted for 37 confirmed sightings in 14 northeast Ohio counties last year, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.  The number of confirmed sightings is up from 26 in 2011.

AKRON, OH – Educators who work with children pre-kindergarten through 8th grade are invited to attend a free workshop on Friday, January 11th, 2013. The workshop focuses on two supplemental curriculums that help teach wildlife-related concepts. Growing Up WILD (for ages 3-7 years) and traditional Project WILD (K-12) guidebooks will be provided to all participants who stay for the duration of the program.

Jamestown, PA- Finding fish in Ohio’s larger reservoirs can be tough. Not only must anglers pin point areas where the fish might be biting, but they also must realize how far they are away from the nearest launch in case of problems.  This is especially true on Pymatuning Reservoir (Ashtabula County), where there are 14,000+ acres of fishable water for anglers to enjoy. AKRON, OH – In 2011, approximately 38 different black bears were confirmed in the Buckeye State according to the ODNR Division of Wildlife. While the population of Ohio’s largest mammal, a state endangered species, may not exactly increase in 2012, sightings of the burly creatures are expected to rise in the summer months.
