AKRON, OH – Northeast Ohio sportsmen and women who are interested in becoming Hunter Education Instructors are encouraged to register for a two-day training workshop in Akron. The workshop will take place on Saturday, August 14 and Sunday, August 15, 2010. Attendance is required on both dates to become certified.

AKRON, OH – The ODNR Division of Wildlife will offer special opportunities for young hunters seeking wild turkeys this spring. In addition to the statewide youth turkey hunting days April 19 and 20 on both public and private lands, the Division of Wildlife will be holding a drawing on Saturday, April 10, 2010 for a special, controlled turkey hunting opportunity within the refuge portion of the Killbuck Marsh Wildlife Area.

Deerfield, OH- Shoreline access along many of Ohio’s inland lakes can be tough to find. Sites that provide good fishing can be even more challenging. But, thanks to a collaborative effort at Berlin Reservoir (Stark/Mahoning/Portage counties), anglers have a stretch of shoreline where they can go to have a great time catching fish. This past Sunday, the Ohio Division of Wildlife, along with the Portage Lakes Bassmasters, refreshed fish attractors that were placed along the Bonner Road access area several years ago.

A small ceremony was held on the school grounds and a gathering at the City of Berea’s Coe Lake followed. The school was named the 100th site dedicated in Ohio.
