Huron, OH - Ohioans are encouraged to join Division of Wildlife staff, guest naturalists, and scientists for fun-filled and free educational explorations of Old Woman Creek, a unique and valuable protected Lake Erie estuary. April programs provide opportunities to learn wildflower identification, help control invasive plants, or discover the region’s geologic history. FINDLAY, OH -- Two “Passport to Fishing” instructor workshops will be offered by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife. The workshops will be held on January 3, 2008 and February 7, 2008 at the Wildlife District Two Headquarters located at 952 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio 45840. Each training session will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m.

A joint project between the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA), Division of Solid and Infectious Waste Management, Scrap Tire Management Unit resulted in 1,500 abandoned tires being removed from the Meilke Road Savanna Wildlife Area in SpencerTownship, Lucas County.

FINDLAY, OH -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife is pleased to announce the dedication of the James Donnell Konkel Wetland at the Pickerel Creek Wildlife Area. The dedication will take place on Thursday November 8, 2007 at 3:30 P.M. This 40-acre complex of wetlands and grasslands was restored by breaking drain tiles and excavating seven shallow potholes.

The mitigation of a 1993 diesel fuel spill in Indiana that affected a Williams County, Ohio stream has finally been concluded. Fish Creek was severely affected killing off invertebrates, mussels, fish, reptiles, amphibians, mammals and birds. An oil pipeline burst causing 30,000 gallons of fuel to spill into Fish Creek.
