CLEVELAND, OH - The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) and the ODNR Division of Wildlife with assistance from the U.S. Coastguard- Cleveland, are working together to investigate a spill consisting of an oily substance that was dumped into the Cleveland City sewer system and consequently flowed into the Cuyahoga River according to the ODNR Division of Wildlife. The source of the spill is unknown at this time.

COLUMBUS, OH - Starting June 22, the Castalia State Fish Hatchery will be temporarily closed to visitors and tour groups. The temporary closure will run through August 28.
 
Castalia Trout Fishing Lottery permit holders will still have access to Cold Creek on their assigned fishing date throughout the facility closure.

XENIA, OH – A small black bear, probably a one and a half year-old, is currently wandering in the Warren County area according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. Biologists tracking this bear believe it is a young male on a quest to establish its own territory. As bear populations expand in neighboring states, Ohio will see Buckeye bear populations continue to increase.

Ohio has also reviewed and agreed to recognize over 6,500 suspensions entered in the database by 30 other member states.

MOGADORE, OH – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife is entering into an agreement with The Trust for Public Land (TPL) to acquire 690 acres from The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. The Portage County property is locally known as Wingfoot Lake Park. In recognition of the name’s historical significance, the ODNR Division of Wildlife will identify the property as the Wingfoot Lake Wildlife Area.
