ANDOVER, OH - An initiative to improve walleye fishing in Pymatuning Lake appears promising based on a recent electrofishing survey conducted by the Ohio Division of Wildlife and Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.  Electrofishing is an effective tool in surveying fish populations. Biologists temporarily stun fish with a mild current in efforts to better sample fish populations.

Athens, OH – Ohio Division of Wildlife’s State fish hatcheries and fish biologists have recently completed the annual stocking of nearly 3,500 yearling brown trout into Clear Creek, located in Hocking and Fairfield counties. Not to be confused with catchable rainbow trout, which are stocked in several lakes throughout Ohio in the fall, these fish are less than eight inches in length, requiring at least a year or two to reach legal size.

AKRON, OH – Fishing opportunities continue to blossom at two northeast Ohio lakes according to the ODNR Division of Wildlife.  A 25-year agreement between the City of Akron and the ODNR Division of Wildlife allows outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy fishing, hunting, trapping, birding, and outdoor education on LaDue and Mogadore reservoirs and adjoining lands. Outdoor recreation at these two locations is managed by the Division of Wildlife while the City manages the reservoirs as a part of their public drinking water supply system for the 300,000 customers of the Akron metropolitan area.  Electric motors only are permitted on boats and all gasoline motors and tanks must be removed to prevent pollution of the water.
