FINDLAY, OH – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife will be conducting a bald eagle banding on Tuesday June 2, 2009 at the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge in Ottawa County. This event is open to the public, and offers a great opportunity to see our national symbol up close. This was originally scheduled for May 28, 2009. That event was cancelled due to inclement weather.

COLUMBUS, OH - The first record of European rudd in Ohio waters was recorded this week. It was caught by licensed Ohio commercial fisherman Jim Swartz, who netted the fish near the Lakeside Pier in Marblehead and brought it to state fisheries biologists in Sandusky for identification, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

The competition was held in Louisville, Kentucky on May 8 and 9; it drew more than 4,500 students from 35 states and Canadian provinces.

RAVENNA, OH- April 22, 2009 marked the 39th anniversary of Earth Day. To commemorate this event, the Ohio Division of Wildlife completed one of its most successful collaborations to date. Fish management personnel and the Mahoning County Green Team joined forces to gather used Christmas trees and cinder blocks across northeast Ohio and introduce them as fish concentration devices into West Branch Reservoir (Portage County).
