XENIA, OH – The Miami County chapter of Pheasants Forever along with the, Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife will hold the sixth annual John D. Stull Memorial Youth-Mentor pheasant hunt on February  7, 2009.   The hunt will take place from 9:00am – 4pm on the Stull Preserve, 7670 E. Widener Rd., New Carlisle, Ohio 45344. Participants will have a fun-filled day of hunter education, sporting clays, and bird hunting. After the hunt, the youth will have the opportunity to take part in a demonstration on field dressing and preparing their harvest.

COLUMBUS, OH - Ohio hunters took 116,798 white-tailed deer during the state's popular, weeklong deer-gun season, which ran December 1 through 7, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. A Toledo man has been found guilty of shooting two trumpeter swans.  Trumpeter swans are an endangered species in Ohio with the population estimated at 150 individuals within the state.

COLUMBUS, OH - Young hunters across Ohio again enjoyed success during the sixth annual Youth Deer-Gun Season, held Saturday and Sunday, November 22-23.
 Hunters age 17 and under killed 9,852deer during the special two-day season, aimed at providing a high-quality hunting experience for younger Ohioans. Last year's youth hunt saw a deer harvest of 10,515.

Hillsboro, OH – The Southwest Ohio Chapter of Safari Club International (SCI) and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife will donate venison to the Highland County Homeless Shelter and Samaritan Outreach Services in Hillsboro at 12:00 noon on November 26, 2008. The Homeless Shelter is located at 145 Homestead Avenue, Hillsboro, OH 45133 and the Samaritan Outreach is located at 537 N. COSHOCTON, OH – Sentencing for eight individuals and a meat processor from Lorain County who were involved in poaching white-tailed deer in Coshocton and Knox counties is coming to a close after more than nine months of deliberation, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. Sentencing related to this case includes fines totaling $2,425, several hunting privilege revocations, forfeited motor vehicles and equipment, and a combined total of more than four years of jail time to be served.
